Kitchen Assistant Spare
Nutrition Services Department
The Auburn School Department is seeking a dependable and motivated Kitchen Assistant Spare to support meal preparation and service at Auburn Middle School and its satellite schools. This full-time position plays a key role in ensuring students receive safe, nutritious meals in a fast-paced school environment.
Position Details
- Hourly rate: $18.50 per hour
- Full-time position
- Work location: Auburn Middle School Central Kitchen and satellite schools
What You’ll Do
- Assist with daily meal preparation and food service for students
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to serve meals in a timely and friendly manner
- Perform cashier duties after training
- Wash dishes, fill flatware stations, load milk, and assist with food preparation
- Replenish food items as needed throughout service
- Participate in daily kitchen clean-up as assigned by the Kitchen Manager
- Follow Auburn School Department’s HACCP plan and strict sanitation and safety protocols
- Check in, store, and organize food deliveries safely and accurately
- Complete six (6) required professional development hours annually
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Positive and professional when interacting with students and staff
- Able to follow instructions with accuracy and attention to food safety
- Willing to adapt quickly to change
- Kitchen or food service experience preferred but not required
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Kitchen Manager
